Thanksgiving is just two weeks away and I know you are already making your Christmas list and checking it twice. Today I am sharing some low cost gift ideas for Christmas. I would love for you to add your ideas in the comments too.

If Christmas shopping has you worried, maybe there are some ways to show love and give from the heart without breaking the bank. There are many who are unemployed and underemployed. Low cost gift ideas can help.

Begin by thinking of things you enjoy doing and are good at. Do you work on cars? Do you cut hair? Do you sew, crochet or knit? Do you enjoy cooking or baking?

Giving a gift from the heart is a wonderful way to give at Christmas time.

Create a picture book for young children with magazine cut-outs of bright shapes, cars, people, toys, etc.

  1. Great ideas, Jeanne, and those would be more meaningful to the recipient than expensive gifts. Another idea would be for pet owners. We could pet sit if the owner has to go out of town for a few days or just look in on the animals during the day while the person is at work.

  2. Great ideas…I’ll pass the sweater mitten idea to my daughters who have taken up knitting recently. A funny story…I had a very wealthy (and famous) neighbor (who has passed on). One Christmas, he and his wife were making gifts for all their friends and family. They were drilling holes in ordinary tin cans in designs for votive candles. I had to smile. They realized their circle had everything under the sun, and so they turned back to childlike, humble crafts!

    1. I love the story, Donna. There is something satisfying when we create something ourselves. I think it’s because God made us to be creative–like Him. Gifts don’t have to cost a lot of money. I love different ideas. Thanks for sharing your comment.
