When Devastating News Comes, Your World Freezes in Time
Living life seems to happen in the midst of whirlwinds and blinders. We get caught up in the dailies and miss the moments. But, when devastating news comes, time stands still and our view is focused on the right now.
Devastating news comes at the most inopportune time. There is no way to prepare. We are simply hit with the news and life changes direction.
A Sudden Accident
A Dreaded Diagnosis
A Relational Wreck
A Searing Loss

When devastating news comes, our heart skips, mouth goes dry, tears fall, and questions come…
Why?
Our why turns into, how? Our how to how could they? Our world tilts until we’re dizzy, and we wonder how to go on.
Life is uncertain. But, I am learning, the older I become, that God is not. I may not fully understand what is happening, but I can fully know that He is with me.

The Holidays Can be Difficult
The holidays can be hard when we have lost a loved one, and the memories make it difficult to feel happy. For some, they have received news this week and it will forever change their holidays to come.
So we can be extra aware of those who have received devastating news. We can come alongside to encourage them—love them—and let them know they are not alone. We can pray for them as they pass through the dark tunnel of loss. And we can remind them of God’s care and comfort, there for the asking.
What Can We Do?
I think that’s what God wants of us here in this world. As we see a need, He can show us how to help. And when we see a hurting heart, we can share the One who loves them with an everlasting love. We can be the hands and feet of Jesus, to bring help and light to those in a dark place.

So when devastating news rocks the world around you, share Jesus, and trust The Rock who calms the stormiest sea. If your world is rocking, know that we care about you and so does God. I would love to pray for you…

Sometimes the simplest gesture can make all the difference in the world. For example inviting someone out for a cup of coffee or lunch. Perhaps touching base by phone, email,or text to let someone know you’re thinking about them and praying for them. Jesus was all about relationship and uses us to be His hands and feet to those who are hurting.
Sheree, it’s a good reminder that our comfort and care doesn’t necessarily need to be in a big form. I have received a note with a simple message and it’s made a huge difference. When the Holy Spirit nudges, do it. It is the perfect thing for that moment. Thanks for your thoughts.
You are right! God never changes, even when my circumstances change all around me. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever! He is so faithful and good to see me through all of life’s ups and downs.
Thanks for your thoughts, Joanna. So faithful!! He is the same God who parted the Red Sea, shut the mouths of lions, healed, restored, and delivered many. And He will be with us everyday too.
