Small Things Are Bigger Than They Seem

The Big Part of Small Things

Small things are often the biggest blessings. Whether it is seeing something amazing while reading God’s word or being a taste-tester while grocery shopping in Market Basket.

You’re probably wondering what I could be taste-testing in the grocery store. It all began at the fish counter. There was a little lady wearing the most beautiful jacket – the color was salmon or watermelon, not pink or peach. She looked beautiful. And I told her how pretty she looked. This led to her cheeks glowing in that lovely shade; just stunning.

“But, they’re not washed.”

I took a grape from one of the bags on the shelf and rubbed it diligently in my palm, magically removing all the impurities and popped it in my mouth. “They are sweet and have a little snap, but they aren’t as fresh as they are sometimes,” I said with experience.

She nodded her white head and put the grapes back. But it wasn’t long before she met me by the asparagus and pressed a wrapped mint candy into my hand. “This is for being nice to me today,” She smiled. “I carry them everywhere and give them to people who help me.”

Talk about feeling blessed. We connected over a compliment and produce-small-talk. I wanted to take her home with me.

Do you ever wonder how a small thing can mean so much?  [Tweet This]

We are tempted to think small things don’t matter. Who will notice? But, the smallest of things will often mean the most to someone. To us, they seem insignificant, but to someone else, they can mean the world. Small things are like ‘random acts of kindness’ that touch something deep within a person.  [Tweet This]

That little mint was such a small thing but I think it accomplished far more than she or I could have imagined. It’s the sweet treasures in small things that fill the soul.  [Tweet This]
