Faithful Preparations a Day at a Time
As I prepare to leave later this week to speak at retreats in New Hampshire my heart and mind are boggled with many things. Faithful preparations for the retreats as well as at home…yes, I grocery shopped and planned meals for my hubby…and also continued preparations for our trip to China.
You know the saying: Just do the next thing
That’s what I must focus on this week. And I know my daughter Alicia is doing the same…One day at a time. You can read her blog here.Alicia's adoption update - Bringing Little Dude Home Click To Tweet
As Alicia got word this past week that her application for a grant was denied, I felt her discouragement. Yet I notice both of us continued to do the things we can do as we wait for travel approval.
We sent our travel visa applications to the consulate in Chicago.
I got a travel document notarized, and dropped off a medical release form for my doctor to sign, saying I am fit to travel.
Alicia launched more fundraising efforts (see below to consider helping) including a very cool T-shirt design with the Chinese character for LOVE. And a virtual Usborne Book party which will be taking orders until Friday.
Can You Relate to the Uncertainty?
I am sure you can relate to the angst when you are unsure of the future or the details. What do you do?Wait, trust, and walk forward, doing the next thing in preparation. Click To Tweet
As I prepare for the upcoming retreats I can’t get everything done in one day. So, each day I decide what I can accomplish—one thing at a time.
Walking by Faith
This sounds like a definition of faith. Trust what is going to happen and walk in faithfulness, diligent in our preparation, knowing God will meet us when the time comes.
There will be plenty of ‘next things’ as we look to travel in December (hopefully) or January to bring Little Dude home. Alicia still needs funds in order to travel, so if you feel led here are some ways to help. You can also pray and feel free to share this post 🙂
Here are a few of Alicia’s adoption fundraisers:
Variety of items/gifts from One Mission: Adoption receives 40% of sales
T-shirts with Chinese character for LOVE (four styles and many colors):
Usborne Books (orders taken until Friday 11/4/16): Receives 25% of sales
What thing are you walking in faith, one day at a time for?
I leave this Thursday and will be speaking two consecutive weekends on the topic of: Gems from Garbage – teaching from Philippians chapter four. I trust that my preparations will bear fruit and I know God has prepared a wonderful place for the women to meet with Him.
