We call him Little-Dude. His name is Rui Bao—Lucky Gem or Treasure in Mandarin.
He may call me, Lao Lao (pronounced like How – maternal grandmother).
My Heart Journey
Since February, my grandma-heart is making room for Little Dude. I never expected to love a little one from such a long distance. I pray for him, that he will find favor there…until we can get him here.
I wonder…who will comfort him when is afraid at night? Will he be hugged when he is upset or sad?
I don’t have the answers to those questions. But, I do know our Little-Dude has a Heavenly Father who loves him with an everlasting love. When he is alone, God will calm him. When he is afraid, He will be his comfort. And, when he is going to sleep, his Heavenly Father will rock his crib until he slumbers.
Yes, I am aware of orphans in the world, but until one is going to join your family, the reality of the number isn’t as vivid. Little-Dude is just one of 700 children at his orphanage alone. Who knows how many orphans there are in China but they all need love and a real home.
I want to experience this with my daughter and grand baby. I can’t wait to meet him.
What I Know About Rui Bao
They don’t know his birth date because he was abandoned.
He is between two and three years old
Wears size 18-24 month clothes.
Loves playing with toy cars and stringing beads
He has mild cerebral palsy
He is VERY cute (I will share a photo soon)
Special needs children are often abandoned because of the cost of medical care. My heart says, he has some catching up to do. But, he is coming home to a family that has a heart ready to fill his with love.
Preparing My Grandma-heart for Travel
You can follow my daughter’s adoption progress on her blog. Her home study was approved in record time (it took just three weeks rather than the 3-4 months). Her i800a hurdle is complete; her paperwork is on its way to the consulate in Chicago for approval. All of this is like Greek to me.
This journey will be a wild ride for sure.
I have my passport…but will need a visa to travel. And, I will need funds for airfare, hotel and meals while in China for two weeks.
Want to help or follow our progress? Here are a few suggestions:
Pray – for the timeline events, paperwork, fees and all the I-dotting and T-crossing that needs to happen.
Help Me Go To China – I will be blessed by any contribution you feel led to add to my travel fund. Contact me for more information, or you can give through my PayPal account.
PRAY that God will provide in amazing ways and receive all the glory. This Grandma’s-heart says thank you!
