Pivot Point to Esther’s Destiny
Chapter 4 begins with Mordecai’s reaction to the news of Haman’s plot, creating the pivot point to Esther’s destiny.

When someone we love receives sad news, we want to console them. And, when we’re separated by miles, we can feel frantic, even helpless.
Esther, separated by castle walls and protocol; is brought news that Mordecai is inconsolable, dressed in sackcloth and ashes. She sends him clothes but he refuses them.
The pivot point in our story is when everything changes and Esther takes the crucial step toward her destiny. Multiple messages pass between Esther and Mordecai before she is aware of Haman’s devious plan. Mordecai lays it out for her — it’s up to you to make the King aware. Not so easy when she hasn’t been summoned for 30 days. Not even a wife can approach the King without the fear of death.
Just because Esther is the Queen, doesn’t mean she can escape
Mordecai ramps up the warning for Esther: Don’t think you will escape this, Esther. Besides, maybe you are the queen for such a time as this.
The King has been given unwise counsel over and over. Maybe this is only way he’ll listen and become aware of the truth. Queen Esther directs everyone to fast for three days and then will approach the King unsummoned. Her chilling words continue to echo today. If I perish, I perish.
